We are very happy to have AGC-CA Director Kate Mergen speaking on how leading trends in Project Delivery and Construction Affect Us, and What the Associated General Contractors of California Is Doing About it. Ed Buch, CSI, CCS, AIA will moderate the April Specifier’s Forum for a discussion of topics of interest to specifications writers, architects, and other design professionals who are involved with the preparation of specifications, product data sheets, and other construction documents. About the Dinner Presentation:

Kate Mergen
Director, Governmental & Regulatory Affairs
Associated General Contractors of California

Career Highlights:

For over 10 years, Kate Mergen has been involved in real estate and construction. She is both passionate and committed to the industry, and works diligently with companies and owners towards enhancing and positively improving standards.

Kate started in the construction industry in 2008 in Huntington Beach, working on the owner side for BJ’s Restaurants in their department of Real Estate and Construction. There, she spent 4 years working on site acquisition and lease contract negotiation. After leaving BJs in 2013, Mr. Mergen joined the Southern California Contractor’s Association to lead the charge in the areas of Government Relations. Kate advocated local, state, and federal levels to create pro-industry legislation and secured vehicles for funding that would allow for continued growth in the heavy highway and engineering fields. She was promoted to SCCA’s Executive Director of the Association.

Ms. Mergen left SCCA in May 2015 and began consulting for the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of California. Her focus was strategic partnerships and strengthening the voice in the industry for all tiers of construction companies. Kate became heavily involved with public agencies and private owners/developers, advocating in the areas of contractual language, funding, and policy reform. She now oversees state-wide legislative activity and regulatory affairs.

Born and raised in Southern California, Kate attended the State University of New York, Albany, and completed her education at National University in Pre-Law studies.
